Birthday parties are back & it’s time for a #MoteShellabration!
We don't just have incredible sea animals here, but party animals too! Have your next birthday party at Mote, and enjoy fun ocean activities and games while spending the day with family and friends. Read on to plan your very own #PartyWithMote!
Days: Select Saturdays & Sundays by reservation
Available Times: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Price: $360 for members, $400 for non-members, add-ons are $75 each
Reservation: We recommend making your request at least 6 weeks in advance
All birthday parties include:
- Two-hour private venue rental
- Ocean themed games & activities
- Mote Educator to facilitate party activities
- Admission to Mote Aquarium after party
- Birthday Planning Guide and invites

Please Note:
- Maximum 30 party guests (children and adults)
- All children must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (no drop offs)
- Mote Parties are recommended for children 4 - 12 years old
- Mote is a smoke-free facility and the use of alcohol or drugs is prohibited onsite during these family events
- Birthdays must be booked & paid for for at least 2 weeks in advance, though we recommend making reservations at least 6 weeks in advance to secure your date
- Outside vendors (i.e. characters, face painters, etc) and onsite catering are NOT permitted on Mote property during your birthday party; you may bring prepared meals, pizza, etc. but these parties are not authorized to bring catering staff/equipment onsite
- Only the Coral Classroom indoor space is available during the summer months of June, July and August. The Chickee Hut outdoor space is not available during this time.
- Mote is a smoke-free facility and the use of alcohol or drugs is prohibited onsite during these family events
Booking Your Party
Step 1: Complete the Birthday Party Request Form (below). Mote will check availability and get back to you within 7 days of your request.
Step 2: If your date is available, you will receive a payment link via email. To secure your reservation we require a 50% non-refundable deposit within 7 days of receiving the link. You may also pay the full amount at this time, otherwise the remaining balance will be due 2 weeks before the party date.
Step 3: After paying the deposit (or full amount) you will receive a confirmation email containing important information regarding your party including a Birthday Party Planning Guide and invitations. Please review the email and its information carefully.
Step 4: We’ll see you for party time!

Cancellation Policy
Birthday Party deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you provide notice of cancellation 15 days or more before the date of your scheduled birthday party, we will credit your deposit for use at a later date. Your final balance is due 2 weeks prior to your party, and no refunds will be made after that time unless Mote cancels your event. If your final balance is not received by its due date, we reserve the right to cancel your party and retain your deposit. Please review our full policy here BEFORE booking your party.
Prohibited Items/Activities
The following items are not permitted on Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium grounds for the safety of our animals and guests: weapons or firearms per Florida Statutes Section 790.06(12) {firearms are not allowed at events with alcohol provisions}, or any hazardous items or materials, balloons, plastic straws, food and beverages not provided by approved vendors (water and baby food/formula is allowed), or any other items deemed to be a safety hazard or that may be used to engage in prohibited activities. Smoking and vaping is also prohibited.
