Dean Dougherty works in the Marine Operations department at Mote Marine Laboratory handling scheduling, animal procurement and captaining vessels. He is a licensed United States Coast Guard captain and commercial pilot with multi-engine, IFR, and CFI ratings. Born and raised in Sarasota, Dean has worked for Mote for over 18 years. He recently started Mote Research Charters, which lets the public interact with real science aboard a research vessel.

B.S. in Aeronautics with a Major in Commercial Aviation, University of North Dakota
