Wild About Wildlife Virtual Summer Camp

Join us as we embark on an action-packed virtual summer adventure. Sessions will feature educators from Mote, Manatee Lagoon, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and Zoo Miami.

Week-long virtual camp experiences will feature half-day morning schedules filled with animal observations, experiments, games, crafts and educational lessons hosted by educators from each organization. The camp will focus on wildlife and the environment. Themes will vary each week throughout the summer and activities will be tied to the weekly theme. Camp sessions will feature a mix of live, prerecorded and do-at-your-own-pace content. Lessons are targeted for children ages 6 to 9; however, other ages are welcome to register and participate. Camp sessions begin June 27, register today!

 

Endless Oceans Online

We welcome you to explore the world of marine science through this engaging series of online, self-paced lessons recorded by a Mote education professional. Wherever you live and whatever your schedule, you can still dive into Mote's research and gain a deeper understanding of our oceans! Learning is a lifelong endeavor, continue your journey with Mote Marine Laboratory. This is a self-paced course for adult learners (ages 18+) via Google Classroom. Registration includes access to all 9 class segments for the full semester course. Once enrolled, students will have 6 months to complete the online lessons and will receive a Mote Certificate of Completion for Marine Science 101. Shark Pups and Grownups at Home

MEGA-lodon sized fun for you and your little one! Join us as we explore the marine environment through imaginative play, songs, crafts and more, all from the comfort of your home! You'll have a blast this summer with your digital STEMventure collection, full of fun experiments and engaging activities designed by our early childhood educators! For preschool to kindergarten aged kids and their favorite adult.

There are three themes to choose from, and each home program includes: a Weekly Guide and Viewing Schedule to prepare and plan your week of STEM activities and a week of Activity Sheets, Experiment and Craft Guides, Game Printables (like scavenger hunts, memory, etc.) and private links to exclusive videos with our early childhood educators. You'll have a blast this summer with your digital STEMventure collection, full of fun experiments and engaging activities designed by our early childhood educators! 

  • Hide & SEAk: Ready or not, here we come: to learn all about how animals hide from predators and "SEAk" out their prey!  We'll investigate the adaptations ocean animals have like patterns, textures, and more!
  • Sea Shapes & Sizes: From the smallest plankton to the biggest blue whale, the round pufferfish to the arrow shaped barracuda, the ocean is filled with all shapes and sizes! Join us to explore our diverse ocean!
  • The Coast Counts: Join us to learn how humans and animals alike count on our coasts! Roleplay as a Mote scientist while learning how to monitor the health of Florida’s coastal habitats and the inhabitants found there.

At Home with Mote

Join us as we explore the wonders of the ocean from your kitchen table! Learn at home about a variety of magnificent marine life, ocean conservation issues, and marine science research. #AtHomeWithMote is intended for ages 6 through 14. Programs run from September to May. Don't miss out, register today!

 

Virtual Scout Workshops

Mote’s popular Merit Badge workshops have gone virtual! Join us as we review the badge workbook and explore the concepts with some demonstrations and hands-on activities. All merit badge requirements will be completed during this live, interactive virtual workshop. Coral Bleaching Identification Guide - FL Keys Coral Reefs

If you're spending time in the Florida Keys, you can support coral reefs by finding and reporting signs of coral bleaching. Bleaching occurs when high temperatures or other stressors cause corals to lose the beneficial algae that give them color and nutrition, which leaves the coral looking white.

Seafood Watch® Program From Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program empowers consumers and businesses to make choices for a healthy ocean, helping to support diverse marine ecosystems for the future.

Using science-based, peer-reviewed methods, Seafood Watch assesses how fisheries and farmed seafood impact the environment and provides recommendations for seafood Best Choices, Good Alternatives and items to Avoid. Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium partners with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program to promote sustainable seafood messaging.
