Create your own reef-inspired artwork using the traditional art of Gyotaku fish printing\, then explore the aquarium on a guided tour while learning how to use iNaturalist to document fish and contribute observations to science. Aquarium admission is included.\n Crustacean Persuasions: Crabs\, Corals\, and Conservation / Friday\, October 9⋅2:00 – 5:00pm\nExplore the remarkable diversity of Florida’s crustaceans\, from familiar crabs and shrimp to their lesser-known relatives. Discover how scientists at Mote’s Florida Coral Reef Restoration Crab Hatchery Research Center are raising native crabs to support coral reef restoration. Then sharpen your observation skills with a guided natural history illustration activity featuring crustacean specimens\, no artistic experience required. Explore Mote SEA for inspiration and begin creating your own nonfiction children’s story based on an animal or natural phenomenon that captures your attention. No writing experience is needed\, just curiosity and a story you’d like to tell. Aquarium admission is included\, giving you time to explore the exhibits\, make observations and find your next story.\n\nPlease Note: \n\nBecause this is an adult lifelong learning program\, only guests 18 years and older will be allowed to participate. SUMMARY:Sensory SEA
DESCRIPTION:Mote Science Education Aquarium will open its doors an hour early exclusively for individuals with sensory processing differences or autism spectrum disorders. During this event\, Mote will create a welcoming\, calm\, and inclusive environment with sensory-friendly modifications such as softer lighting\, reduced noise levels\, and minimized visual stimulation whenever possible. \nSensory SEA begins at 8:30 a.m.\, and visitors will enter in timed intervals to help minimize crowding. Guests are welcome to continue enjoying the exhibits after the sensory-friendly hour ends at 9:30 a.m.\, when the Aquarium opens to the public. \nSensory backpacks are available free of charge for checkout in exchange for an ID during Sensory SEA events\, as well as during regular operating hours.
