06/09/2018 Turtle was found near Barefoot Beach Club in Collier County. Animal was found entangled in monofilament and was dragging a fishing pole. Turtle was transported to Mote for assessment. Exam findings revealed an old propeller injury to its carapace, wounds on flippers from entanglement, and numerous large fibropapilloma tumors. Radiographs show no internal ingested fishing gear. Bobber was given injectable antibiotics and will receive subcutaneous fluids until it starts eating consistently. Animal was put in a shallow rehab. pool.
06/10/2018 Bobber was very active today and ate some squid. The depth of his tank was increased somewhat.
06/13/2018 Turtle continues to eat more food each day. Continuing to increase tank depth as animal is fairly active.
06/16/2018 Bobber was sedated and endoscoped to look for suspected internal tumors. Tumors were noted on his liver and lungs, so he was humanely euthanized.
