03/07/2021  Juvenile green sea turtle stranded at St. Augustine Beach, St. Johns County.  Animal was lethargic and covered in epibiota.

03/09/2021  Due to lack of space at the sea turtle rehabilitation facilities on Florida's east coast, 15 juvenile green sea turtles were transferred to Mote for rehabilitation.  Animals were weighed, had blood work done, and were given subcutaneous fluids and injectable antibiotics.  Turtles were put in rehab. tanks with very shallow water. 

03/10/2021  Turtle showed no interest in eating today.

03/27/2021  Elbow passed away overnight.  Unfortuantely, this turtle would not eat and continued to decline despite medical treatments.

Spotted eagle rays are big, beautiful fish related to sharks. To understand where these rays swim and the different threats they might encounter, Mote scientists co-authored the first multiyear, peer-reviewed research paper on the large-scale movements of spotted eagle rays in U.S. waters.
