5/30/2018 Turtle was found entangled in a crap pot line east of Hog Island in Charlotte Harbor, Charlotte County. Turtle also had a large shark fishing hook stuck in it's mouth and was entangled in a large clump of monofilament fishing line. Animal was disentangled and transported to Mote for assessment and rehabilitation. Initial physical exam revealed constriction marks on the front right flipper from the entanglement and wounds in it's mouth from the fishing hook. Blood work and x-rays were done as well. Gazpacho was started on injectable antibiotics and will be given subcutaneous fluids daily until eating.
5/31/2018 Gazpacho had no interest in eating today.
6/1/2018 Turtle ate a small amount of squid today!
06/29/2018 Gazpacho is actively foraging for all food offered. Increased depth of rehab. pool to full. Blood work is improving and antibiotics were discontinued.
07/13/2018 Gazpacho was released by Mote staff and interns at Anna Maria Island!
