Giblet

11/18/2018  Turtle was found near Country Club Shores on Longboat Key with a very fresh boat strike to its carapace.  Animal was given subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, and was dry docked overnight.

11/19/2018  Giblet was relocated to a rehabilitation pool in shallow water.  Had no interest in eating yet, so will given subcutaneous fluids daily.

11/27/2018 Giblet ate lettuce today!  Turtle is actively swimming around the tank, so the water depth is being slowly increased.

12/10/2018  Giblet is now foraging for all food types offered.  Tank is increased to full depth.  Fracture on carapace is steadily healing.

12/27/2018  Blood values are improving and wound continues to heal well.  Injectable antibiotics were discontinued.  Giblet remains active and is foraging all prey items offered.

01/21/2019  Superficial fracture is completely healed.  Deeper fracture continues to slowly heal as well.  Giblet is active and is eating well.

05/07/2019 Giblet was released by Mote staff and interns at Lido Beach!
