12/13/2015 Turtle was transferred to Mote from Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Turtle stranded yesterday near the shore of Peanut Island in West Palm Beach with several fibropapilloma tumors present, including both eyes.
12/18/2015 Surgery was performed to remove papilloma tumors.
1/04/2016 Turtle continues to eat well but remains in shallow water to ease breathing.
1/13/2016 Appetite has improved, and turtle is much more active.
1/19/2016 Turtle is now also eating lettuce, and water level was raised.
2/05/2016 Turtle continues to improve but remains on antibiotics.
2/20/2016 Surgery was performed to remove papilloma tumors using local anesthesia.
3/31/2016 Animal is off all antibiotics. Is very active and eating well.
4/7/2016 Gunner was transported to MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach and was released by Mote staff and interns
Throughout the month of March, Mote Aquarium experiences high daily visitation volume with many timed ticketed entry slots selling out. Guests are highly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance in order to guarantee entry.
Mote Aquarium is open seven days a week at our normal hours, 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. We hope to SEA you soon!
