05/10/2019 Kennel is a 37kg Loggerhead sea turtle who was caught by fishermen off the Venice Fishing Pier. Kennel was brought to Mote because the fishing hook was lodged in the throat. Kennel will stay at Mote's rehabilitation hospital until that wound has healed.
05/11/2019 Kennel is in a rehabilitation tank with low water level. Began foraging food at the first offering.
05/13/2019 Bloodwork shows that Kennel is anemic. Since Kennel is eating very well we are waiting to see if the food will help return bloodwork to normal without supplementing.
05/15/2019 Kennel's tank water was raised to full as he is swimming and foraging for food very well. Has been regularly defecating invertebrate exoskeletons.
06/03/2019 Kennel's anemia has improved but now has been placed on an iron supplement 3 times a week. Kennel's diet amount was also increased.
06/25/2019 Kennel's iron supplement was increased to Monday-Friday.
07/17/2019 Kennel's anemia is improving but the iron supplement has been increased to every day and was given an anti-parasitic.
08/01/2019 Kennel continues to do well, slowly getting closer to release!
