03/08/2021 Juvenile green sea turtle stranded at New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County. Animal was lethargic and covered in epibiota.
03/09/2021 Due to lack of space at the sea turtle rehabilitation facilities on Florida's east coast, 15 juvenile green sea turtles were transferred to Mote for rehabilitation. Animals were weighed, had blood work done, and were given subcutaneous fluids and injectable antibiotics. Turtles were put in rehab. tanks with very shallow water.
03/10/2021 Turtle ate when offered seafood today!
04/10/2021 Molasses continues to improve. Turtle is in deep water, actively swimming, and eating all food offered. She is currently on oral antibiotics.
05/06/2021 Turtle's blood work is improving so weekly iron injections and daily oral antibiotics were discontinued.
05/21/2021 Molasses iis healing well and gaining weight. Blood work continues to improve.
06/07/2021 Molasses, Looe, Howe, Raja, Kimbe, Brewer, Diego, and Bumble were all released by Mote staff at the beach in Ormond-by-the-Sea on Florida's east coast.
