Penelope AKA Penny

/24/2016   Fisherman found turtle floating 10 miles due west off of Longboat Pass.  Animal has some abrasions on plastron and is missing the right front flipper (old, healed injury).  Weight: 1.4 kg.

/26/2016   Turtle is in low water, but is foraging food off the bottom.  Started on injectable antibiotics.

/19/2016   Penelope started to float, so water level was lowered.  Antibiotic therapy was initiated due to elevations of white blood cells in fecal sample.

/23/2016   Penelope continues to eat well and swim strongly.  Raised water level to full although buoyancy (occasional floating) issues are being monitored.

/02/2016  Penelope still floats at times.  Switched antibiotics because fecal sample has not yet improved.

/22/2016  Animal continues to eat well and is growing fast.  Has been able to achieve neutral buoyancy more often over the last few weeks.

/03/2016  Penelope has been medically cleared for release.

/10/2016  Penelope was released by Mote staff and interns at Honeymoon Island
