01/31/2022  Turtle was found near City Pier on Anna Maria Island.  Animal has a fresh fracture to the skull and carapace, possibly due to a boat strike, and fibropapilloma tumors.  Was transported to Mote for rehab.  Animal had blood work done, was weighed, and was given subcutaneous fluids and injectable steroids.  Pierre was dry-docked for the night due to severe head injury.

02/04/2022  Pierre is in a very shallow rehab. pool.  Has shown minimal interest in eating.  Continues to receive subcutaneous fluids and injecatble antibioitcs, anti-inflammatories, and steroids.

02/08/2022  Pierre ate squid today!

02/11/2022  Pierre was trasported to Veterinary Surgery Center of Sarasota for a CT scan today to see if the trauma to his head affected the brain casing.  Results are pending.

02/18/2022  CT results show no evidence of trauma to the brain case or presence of internal tumors.  Pierre is eating well.  He is sharing a tank with Alfalfa, which has been keeping him active.

02/27/2022  Pierre was anesthetized for fibropapilloma tumor removal surgery today.  There were numerous tumors removed including ones on his eyes.

03/09/2022  Pierre is recovering well following surgery.  His is swimming normally and is eating well.

04/01/2022  Pierre is active and gaining weight.  The head injury is healing well and blood values have improved, so oral antibiotics were discontinued.

05/07/2022  Turtle is doing well, except he will need an additional surgery to treat a possible tumor or possible area of trauma secondary to the head injury on his left eye.

05/31/2022  Pierre had a second surgery today to remove the tumor on his eye.

06/18/2022  Pierre is eating well, gaining weight, and healing well from his last surgery.

07/05/2022  Pierre was released off Anna Maria Island by Mote staff today!
