01/04/2021 Schroeder was released off of New Smyrna Beach!
11/25/2020 This turtle (112) is part of the cold stun even that happens in New England area every year. 112 was brought to the National Marine Life Center for initial care.
11/28/2020 112 was transferred with other turtles to from New England to Florida by a non-profit organization called Turtles Fly Too. 112 is part of the group that came to Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium's Sea Turtle Hospital for rehabilitation, here the turtle was named Schroeder.
11/29/2020 Schroeder was put on an injectable antibiotic and fluids. Schroeder began eating a small amount right away.
12/15/2020 Schroeder is no longer receiving fluids regularly and continues to recover well.
12/18/2020 Schroeder has been moved upstairs into a solo enclosure within one of Mote's dolphin rehabilitation tanks.
12/31/2020 Schroeder has been medically cleared for release!
01/04/2021 Schroeder was released on the east coast of Florida off of New Smyrna Beach.
Throughout the month of March, Mote Aquarium experiences high daily visitation volume with many timed ticketed entry slots selling out. Guests are highly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance in order to guarantee entry.
Mote Aquarium is open seven days a week at our normal hours, 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. We hope to SEA you soon!
