10/01/2020  This juvenile green sea turtle was found floating near the Admirality Club in Port Orange, FL on the east coast. The turtle was taken to the Marine Science Center - Lighthouse Point Park for care where is was deemed "Sting".

10/29/2020  Due to running out of rehabilitation space, the turtle was transferred to Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium's Sea Turtle Hospital for continued care. Sting presented with fibropapilloma tumors that will need to be surgically removed and an old boat strike wound on the carapace (top of shell).

10/30/2020  Sting is doing well and began eating immediately. Sting was put on an injectable antibiotic and injectable iron supplement.

11/14/2020  Sting has been doing great. Fibropapilloma removal surgery was performed and Sting is now tumor free! Now we will observe Sting for awhile watching for any tumor regrowths or new growth. Sting is on an oral antibiotic.

12/13/2020  Sting had a second fibropapilloma tumor removal surgery today. Sting had new tumors growing but is now considered tumor free again!

01/16/2021  Sting was medically cleared for release but will spend a few days in a dolphin rehabilitation tank to slowly get used to colder water to match the current ocean temperature.

01/27/2021  Beez and Sting were released by Mote staff at Apollo Beach on the east coast of Florida!
