Toothless

01/15/2023  Turtle was found in floating in Edgewater in Volusia County on the east coast of Florida.  It was evntually transported to Sea Turtle Healing Center at Brevard Zoo for rehabilitation.  While at Brevard, he was started on subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, etc.  Turtle has a heavy load of fibropapilloma tumors.

01/19/2023  Due to overcrowding of some facilities on the east coast, FWC transferred some turtles to Mote for rehabilitation.  Toothless was put in a rehab. tank with Hairy Potter at a very low water level to acclimate after transport.

01/20/2023  Toothless ate all seafood offered.

01/25/2023  The depth of Toothless's tank is being slowly increased.  He/she is very active and is now eating all seafood and romaine lettuce.  Continues to receive antibiotic injections every couple days until blood work improves.

01/28/2023  Turtle's tank is now at full depth.  Toothless is very active and is eagerly eating all seafood and lettuce offered daily.

02/18/2023  Toothless continues to eat well and spend much of the day swimming.  Because he is eating well, he is now receiving oral antibiotics instead of injectable to minimize stress from handling.

02/20/2023  Toothless had fibropapilloma tumor removal surgery today.

03/10/2023  Toothless is recovering well following tumor removal surgery.  He is once again more active and eating well.

03/25/2023 Toothless continues to heal following surgery.  He continues to eat well and spends all day swimming.  He is still receiveing oral antibiotics to help with healing.

04/10/2023  Mote staff transported Toothless to Ormond Beach on the east coast for release today!
