Partnership announced between Mote and Florida Keys History & Discovery Foundation

A partnership to bring the coral reef ecosystem exhibit to land is being undertaken between Mote Marine Laboratory and Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation in Islamorada. The exhibit, Coral Reef Exploration, is expected to be complete in the fall, and will be housed in the Keys History & Discovery Center, which is operated by the Foundation. Mote Marine Laboratory documents first sea turtle nests of 2018 on Longboat Key

The first local sea turtle nests of 2018 were discovered today by Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Patrol, a team of scientists, interns and approximately 300 volunteers who monitor nesting activity on Longboat Key through Venice every day of sea turtle nesting season, which officially runs from May 1-Oct. 31 in southwest Florida.
