September 12: Life’s a Beach Triathlon to raise funds for sea turtle conservation and research

It's time to grab your swimsuit, your most festive Hawaiian shirt and your running shoes for the 2015 Life's a Beach Triathlon  - an event organized by Endeavor Racing, LLC - on Sept. 12, 2015. For every full-price entry, the Life's a Beach Triathalon Endeavor Racing will donate $1 to Mote's Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program, which has coordinated sea turtle conservation for more than 30 years along 35 miles of Sarasota County beaches.

Loggerhead sea turtle rescued in Lyons Bay

A large, adult male sea turtle who was hit by a boat, missing part of his flipper and unable to dive well was rescued Sunday, June 28, in Lyons Bay in Nokomis by members of the Venice Police Marine Patrol, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Sarasota Police Department, and brought to Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital.
