Helping manatees: Mote scientist on PBS

It's tough to be a Florida manatee right now. With declining seagrass to eat and multiple other threats from cold snaps to harmful algae, these threatened mammals need all the help they can get.

Meet a Mote Marine Laboratory scientist who is working to help manatees—Mote Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr. Beth Brady—and others who share her passion for this important work, during this new episode of the South Florida PBS program Changing Seas. Watch for Brady at timestamp 8:40.

Brady and her colleagues launched the first drone surveys to monitor for critically ill manatees in the Indian River Lagoon, where the animals have been hit hard by seagrass declines.
