It’s electric! Recharge your car during a visit to Mote Aquarium

Mote Aquarium’s electric vehicle charging stations are part of FPL’s EV charging initiative – FPL EVolution – to accelerate the electrification of transportation in Florida and reduce carbon emissions.
Celebrate National Drive Electric Week with an environmentally-friendly visit to Mote Aquarium thanks to multiple electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Guests are welcome to plug in and charge their EVs for free while they enjoy their time at Mote Aquarium. The charging infrastructure is part of Florida Power & Light Company’s electric vehicle pilot program, FPL EVolution.
Since its founding in 1955, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium has been committed to marine research that promotes sustainable use of our oceans, In addition to the world-class research and conservation efforts that include restoring degraded reefs in the Florida Keys, restocking vulnerable fish populations, working towards solutions that fight Florida red tide, and more, Mote’s campuses have adopted “green” practices that can lessen our impact on the environment. Some of these practices range from staff-led beach cleanups, on-campus composting, and eliminating single-use plastics from the Aquarium diner and gift shop. Mote’s EV charging stations, part of FPL Evolution, are frequently utilized by staff, volunteers, Aquarium visitors, or even drivers visiting nearby Ken Thompson Park on City Island. The stations are available at no-cost to the user.

About FPL Evolution:
FPL plans to install more than 1,000 charging points at more than 100 locations across the state, which could increase the current availability of charging stations by more than 50%. In addition to encouraging drivers to go electric, FPL EVolution charging infrastructure will collect valuable data to help FPL further advance electric transportation and prepare for the future when one in four cars sold on the road are expected to be electric by 2025.
EV drivers can download the FPL EVolution app to find and navigate the closest FPL charging station. The app will reroute users to the selected station where drivers will scan a code and connect their EV to the station to begin charging. The app will also provide users with port availability, outages, charging history, trends, nearby amenities and more.
