Mote announces expansion of its annual Ocean Fest
Mote Marine Laboratory is excited to announce an expansion of its annual Ocean Fest a family-friendly educational event to celebrate the vibrant marine environment of the Florida Keys.
Now guests can enjoy two days of fun, music, food and shopping to celebrate the Florida Keys' treasured marine environment while raising funds for coral reef restoration during Mote Ocean Fest in two different Keys locations.
The annual event has previously taken place at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, located on Key West's Truman Waterfront, but due to construction in this area, the 2017 Ocean Festival will take place Saturday Nov. 18 in Islamorada at the Guy Harvey Resort (82100 Overseas Highway Islamorada, FL 33036).
The Key West celebration of Mote Ocean Fest will take place April 14, 2018, at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center.
“Due to the ongoing City of Key West construction affecting the area that we were able to utilize for past events, we have moved the 2017 Mote Ocean Fest to Islamorada, with a bigger and better Mote's Ocean Fest returning to Key West on April 14, 2018,” said Dr. Michael P. Crosby, Mote President & CEO. “We are looking forward to everyone coming out and enjoying themselves while supporting Mote’s coral reef restoration and research efforts.”
Ocean Fest attendees can explore conservation and environmental exhibits, meet live animals and experience touch tanks, view and purchase wares from local marine artists and vendors, enjoy music, try their skill at active amusements and bid on silent auction items.
All proceeds go to support coral reef restoration, research and education in the Florida Keys.
