Oh Baby! exhibit to become permanent exhibit at Mote
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium is excited to share that the exhibit "Oh Baby! Life Cycles of the Seas," originally scheduled to close on Sept. 27, will be permanent.
“The response and feedback from the public about the exhibit has been extremely positive, and Mote is happy to have this exhibit remain open so that future visitors can enjoy and learn about ocean animal life cycles,” said Evan Barniskis, Assistant Vice President for Mote Aquarium. “Mote extends gratitude to everyone who has enjoyed the exhibit and to 'Oh Baby!' staff and volunteers who continue to provide their time and support to Mote.”
This family-friendly, educational exhibit invites visitors to discover ocean animal “romance” and reproduction, babies of many species and the survival challenges facing new generations of marine life. These topics are central to marine research around the globe, including the world-class science of Mote Marine Laboratory.
Animals from land and sea start life as babies, grow up and then have the chance to reproduce — to give birth or make new life in other ways. Oh baby, these life cycles are important! Reproducing allows each animal species — each type of fish, crab, sea turtle and more — to survive through the years.
Mote scientists study how ocean animals mate and have babies so they can transfer and translate that information to decision makers and the the public to support marine conservation. Undersea animals face many dangers and adventures to reproduce.
How do they “do it?” Come visit "Oh Baby!" and find out!
