Mote thanks community for successful Giving Challenge Sept. 20 and 21, 2016

The annual community-wide Giving Challenge on Sept. 20 and 21 raised vital funds for hundreds of Southwest Florida nonprofits. Mote Marine Laboratory is thanking the community for making more than 400 gifts totaling $43,858 to the Lab online, along with several generous offline gifts. Out of close to 600 organizations, Mote ranked 15th for dollars raised.

Great white sharks off Nantucket in the scientific spotlight

Today OCEARCH and its collaborating scientists launched a three-week expedition to tag mature great white sharks off Nantucket, Massachusetts. They aim to build upon results from now-famous sharks like Lydia, Mary Lee, Betsy, Katharine and Genie, whose tracked migrations have fascinated scientists and helped educate people of all ages.
