Every year Mote Marine Laboratory's SeaTrek.TV distance learning programs reaches thousands of students, inspiring a new generation of marine scientists and enthusiasts. SeaTrek.TV use interactive television and internet technology to deliver live, science programming to students across the country. A major focus is K-12 classrooms.
The Internship is a 12-14 week commitment, where most work weeks run Monday - Friday on an 8 - 5 schedule, with possible weekend or evening work. Interns in this program assist primarily with studio setup and behind-the-scenes operations. Limited on-camera and independent media production may also be conducted. Potential interns should have an interest in science education and a background in multimedia.
Interns will receive training in marine science topics, multimedia applications and operations, and the work of Mote Marine Laboratory. SeaTrek.TV interns will become more comfortable and confident teachers/presenters, gain curriculum and multimedia development experience, and make valuable professional contacts for future scientific and/or educational endeavors. Interns may also have some limited opportunities to shadow or visit with Mote research and/or aquarium staff.
This internship is typically available between September and April. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
