Amy Hernden was born and raised in Bradenton before moving to Jacksonville to attend the University of North Florida where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Communication. Her career includes a diverse background of experience in development, special events, public relations, and membership for both nonprofit and private hospitality organizations.
After relocating to the Southwest Florida area in 2016, Amy joined the Mote Marine Laboratory Community Relations & Communications team in April 2017 as the Protect Our Reefs Marketing Manager. Having grown up in the area, she is excited to work at an organization where she can strive to help make a difference in the community and environment that is so close to her heart.
Amy has a passion for animals and marine life, and is enthusiastic about raising awareness of Mote’s Protect Our Reefs program to help fund coral reef research, restoration, education, conservation, and outreach.
