Candice Wade

Volunteer Programs Coordinator

Candice began her career in the zoo and aquarium world as an aquarist at the Dallas World Aquarium where she cared for seahorses and sea dragons. While she loved working with animals, she also developed a passion for engaging the public with conservation and marine life. After obtaining a master’s degree in marine conservation from University of Miami, she followed this passion into education. At the National Aquarium, Candice managed the Tours & Experiences team, developing behind-the-scenes experiences for guests that connected them to the organization’s mission, animal care, and conservation efforts. In addition to working full-time at National Aquarium, Candice also volunteered as a scuba diver and aquarist assistant, helping to care for the animals that call National Aquarium “home.” Prior to joining Mote, she also worked as ZooTampa’s Guest Engagement Training Coordinator, creating training and development opportunities for volunteers, education staff, and interns. With a background in program evaluation and conservation psychology and as a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association of Interpretation, Candice is especially passionate about engaging with visitors in ways that impact them beyond their visit and inspire conservation behavior change.
