Devon is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His graduate research focused on radiocarbon dating foraminifera from a Gulf of Mexico sediment core. He applied a Bayesian accumulation model to investigate if an abundance of dates at lower precision could lead to a more comprehensive age model than that produced through traditional radiocarbon dating. As a member of the Chemical and Physical Ecology program at Mote he participates in Red tide sampling, and monthly monitoring at various locations around Sarasota. Devon operates an Auto analyzer to quantify nutrient concentrations of water samples. He operates a suite of other instruments to obtain water quality data.
