Mackenzie is originally from Manhattan Beach, California, but is currently working in Islamorada, Florida as an intern at the upcoming non-profit called Islamorada Conservation and Restoration Education (I.CARE). As one of the first interns, she works to restore and maintain the coral reefs in Islamorada by incorporating local businesses, residents, and visitors in restoration activities. Mackenzie hopes to attend graduate school in the near future and then pursue a career that bridges the gap between the scientific community and the general public by becoming a well-spoken and knowledgeable educator.
