Wendell Runnels

Volunteer Coordinator

Wendell joined Mote as a Volunteer Coordinator in March of 2016. Prior to that, he served as Team Leader for the Saturday morning Fish & Invertebrates crew. Wendell was born and raised in the Florida panhandle’s Tri-State area, where his passion for conservation was deeply rooted in his childhood: one grandfather managed a farm, and the other grandfather served on the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission. His fascination with marine animals began in fourth grade when he and his siblings stumbled upon an octopus on the shores of Bunkers Cove. In his leisure time, he enjoys composing music in his home studio.
