Rescue Coral Lab: Mote and our partners in the Florida Coral Rescue Team are gene banking corals in response to a major outbreak of stony coral tissue loss disease on Florida’s Coral Reef. Our goal is to support reef restoration.

Aquarium Conservation Lab: Mote is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), meaning we’re dedicated to meeting the highest standards of animal care and conservation. In the Aquarium Conservation Lab, we breed various water-dwelling animal species for our Aquarium habitats and other AZA institutions.

Coral Health & Disease Molecular Lab: Mote’s Coral Health & Disease Research Program aims to understand how coral animals, potential pathogens and the environment interact to understand disease dynamics on coral reefs. We also investigate disease resistance in corals, an important component of resilient coral reefs.
