When in darker areas, this fish is able to become almost completely invisible due to the changing colors of their scales. When light is present, these fish appear blue in color.

The black triggerfish measures 6-14 inches (15-36 centimeters) long at adulthood.

Diet:

Black triggerfish eat coral, plankton, sponges, algae, bony fishes and jellyfish.

Range & Habitat:

Throughout the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, black triggerfish inhabit corals reefs and rocky areas.

Details:

Black durgon fish are round and blue in color with highlights of yellow near the face. Irregular striping runs from their face to the base of their tail. Their dorsal fins and tail are dark blue-black.
