Calling all 6th through 8th graders!

Registration for Science After School is now open!

The Science After School Program is ideal for students who are enthusiastic about marine biology, curious about Mote’s resident animals, interested in ocean conservation, and ready to participate in a structured research project.

Students looking to participate in this program should be excited and willing to gain new experiences, ready to explore new careers, and have an appreciation for nature. Students will attend bi-weekly meetings throughout the semester where they will learn about marine science and ocean conservation through authentic and hands-on activities and discussions. Students will build on their knowledge of general topics such as biology and ecology by studying and conducting a research project in Sarasota Bay.

In addition to the hands-on science experiences, participants will be given opportunities to learn real-world skills such as communication, public speaking, collaboration, and time management. At their last program meeting, students will present their semester-long capstone projects to their families and Mote mentors.
