Mote Begins Transition to Mote Science Education Aquarium
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is excited to share the latest milestone in the process of opening the Mote Science Education Aquarium (SEA) at Nathan Benderson Park.
Mote’s long-standing plan in the preparation for the new facility has included a period of time where operations at Mote Aquarium on City Island would transition to focus efforts on animal quarantine and transfer, as well as staff and volunteer training for Mote SEA operations.
Based on the current timeline, July 6 will be the final day that the current Mote Aquarium on City Island will be ticketed and available for general public admission, including visiting groups. The following day, July 7, all operations at Mote Aquarium on City Island will transition to dedicated preparation and support for the opening of Mote SEA.
Read more about the transition here.
In preparation for this transition, we are no longer accepting requests for self guided tours at our City Island Campus. Registration for field trips and self guided tours at Mote SEA will open in early fall.
Interested in a virtual field trip instead? With over 20 programs to choose from, we have something exciting for every age group.
Please reach out to educate@mote.org or phone 941-388-4441 ext. 351 with any questions. The entire Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium family looks forward to seeing everyone out at SEA later this year!
