Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts may earn marine-themed badges and patches by joining us for full-day Scout events and on-demand workshops.

Boy Scout Merit Badges

Boy Scouts may complete all merit badge requirements during this all-day workshop, which combines hands-on classroom, in-water and Aquarium exploration. Scouts must complete all pre-requisites (details in the registration packet) in order to earn the badge and workshops do not include physical interactions with Mote's resident animals. Scouts should bring their blue cards with them and be prepared to go in the water.

Cost: $20 per scout, $12 per adult chaperone.
Chaperones/Details: Each student and student group must be accompanied by at least one chaperone. Cost includes all program materials, Mote patch and admission to The Aquarium at Mote. Lunch is not provided. You will be emailed a confirmation and schedule from Mote staff when registration is received.
Etc.: Boy Scouts may also have their Merit Badge Workshops during SeaSnooze Overnights.

Girl Scout Patches

For Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, we offer SeaSnooze Overnights with a patch workshop focus from September-May. We also offer day workshops by request. Mote educators lead these marine science programs to align with the Girl Scouts National Leadership Journeys. Whether you are a daisy, brownie, junior or cadette, we have the perfect program for you. Please bring Journey books on night of event.

Minimum Group Size: 15 Girl Scouts.
Mote educators will work with you to create customized educational programs to fit lessons and scout's needs. We can deliver programs on a variety of topics. Call 941.388.4441 x 264 for more information on these special programs.

Cost: $47 per Scout.
Chaperones Required: One adult chaperone per five scouts required and admitted free (additional chaperones $15 per person). Cost for SeaSnooze Overnight Workshops includes all meals and snacks, Mote patch and admission to all facilities. You will be emailed a confirmation and schedule from Mote staff when registration is received.
SeaSnooze Overnights: Take place from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m. Check in with instructor begins at 6:30 p.m.
Etc.: Meet instructor at the Whale Fountain at the main entrance to The Aquarium.

Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds for Mote Education programs unless Mote cancels the program. If you provide notice of cancellation more than 24 hours before the program begins, we will credit your payment to a future  program. If you cancel within 24 hours of the program or fail to show up without giving notice, you will be charged in full for the program.
