Ashlee Flanagan

Veterinarian

Ashlee grew up with a house full of pets in Massachusetts and knew from an early age she wanted a career working with animals. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Technology from a college outside of Boston, then passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. During that time she was a volunteer at the New England Aquarium and knew all 90 penguins by name! Ashlee worked at a large specialty hospital for several years before deciding to attend veterinary school. While in veterinary school Ashlee dedicated her summers and internships to furthering her education in aquatic animal medicine. She attended the AQUAVET program and worked with aquatic veterinarians at Roger Williams University, Woods Hole, Georgia Aquarium, The University of Georgia, and Dolphinaris in Mexico. She also interned at PAWS Wildlife Center in Lynnwood, WA and the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA. Ashlee obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota and promptly moved to warmer climates- Florida! She joined Mote in early 2022 and looks forward to treating the wide variety of aquatic animals who call Mote home.
