Erin joined the Mammals and Reptiles department at Mote in 2020. Before starting her path into animal husbandry, Erin participated in research and conservation on artificial coral reefs in the Dominican Republic. After her time abroad, she interned at Mote in the Mammals and Reptiles department and at The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo in their Aquatics department. In these internships, she gained experience working with otters, manatees, sea turtles, crocodilians, sea lions, and African penguins. Before returning to Mote, She worked as zookeeper at The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo where she cared for small felids, primates, rodents, and several species of birds. Erin has an immense passion for and is extremely enthusiastic about animal care, conservation, and education. She was thrilled to return to Sarasota to join the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium team!
