Karen Stults, M.Ed., has thirty years of nonprofit fundraising and management experience. She comes to Mote from Baltimore, Maryland where she served for ten years as Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations and Director of Community Engagement for Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). At MICA, she raised significant funds for the organization, built the College’s first Office of Community Engagement, and launched and managed a small grants program.
Karen has held executive, program and fundraising positions with a range of nonprofit organizations including the Center for Community Change and YouthAction Inc. in Washington, DC, the Center for Environmental Health and Justice in Arlington, VA, and the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD. Karen grew up in Sarasota and remembers when Mote was located on the south end of Siesta Key. She is thrilled to be back home and working to advance marine and environmental research and education at Mote.

B.A. in Business and Communications from Mercer University.
