Range & Habitat:

In the eastern Indian Ocean and west-central Pacific Ocean, eyestriped surgeonfish can be found in coral reef communities, lagoons and rocky bottom areas.

Details:

Eyestriped surgeonfish range in color from light brown to blue with highlights of yellow on their fins and tail. Like other surgeonfish, this species has sharp spines on either side of its tail, which they can use for self-defense. A distinctive bright white or yellow spot is located near their tail, which makes them easy to identify.
