Range & Habitat:

Along the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico, western Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, flame cardinalfish can be found near anemones, coral colonies, estuaries, mangroves, seagrass beds and rocky areas.

Details:

Flame cardinalfish are easily recognizable by their striking eyes, which feature two solid white lines running around their irises. Their bodies are bright orange with dark spots near the base of their tail, dorsal fin and gill slits. As nocturnal feeders, they often come out of their shelters at night to forage for food.
