French angelfish pair up with a single partner to breed (they are "monogamous"). The pair will forage and defend their territory together. Juvenile french angel fish provide "cleaning stations" where they eat parasites off other fishes.

French angelfish have been recorded as being up to 24 inches (61 centimeters) long, but are typically around 16 inches (40 centimeters) long.

Diet:

French angelfish feed on many different aquatic invertebrates and plants. These include: algae, soft coral, tunicates, sponges and sometimes the parasites on other fishes.

Range & Habitat:

French angelfish live in shallow coral reef communities in the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. They're typically found in water less that 15 feet in depth.

These flat, oval-shaped fish are dark or black with yellow around their eyes, white around their mouths and yellow edges on their scales.
