Giant kelpfish vary in color, generally falling into three groups: red, green and brown. And these fish seem to prefer hanging out near backgrounds of matching color.

The giant kelpfish can grow to about 24 inches long (61 centimeters).

Diet:

These fish can eat small crustaceans, mollusks, and small fishes.

Range & Habitat:

These fishes spend time around rocks and seaweed, including kelp of course! They've been observed in the eastern Pacific from British Columbia to Cape San Lucas, Baja California, including Isla Guadalupe.

Details:

The giant kelpfish is mottled with green, brown and/or red hues. Its body is long and flattened on the sides, with a pointy snout and lower jaw that sticks out.
