These Pacific fish inhabit rocky reefs, kelp beds, eelgrass beds and sand bottoms in the eastern North Pacific, from Alaska's Aleutian Islands, Alaska to La Jolla, southern California.

Details:

Female kelp greenlings are brownish-gray and dotted with small, red-brown to gold spots, with yellow-orange fins. Males fiercely guard their eggs after females lay them in rocky crevices. Kelp greenlings are strong swimmers, darting between rocks to catch small fish, squid, and crustaceans.
