Range & Habitat:

In the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and western Atlantic Ocean, adult lane snappers live in reefs and vegetated sandy bottoms areas along the coast.

Details:

Lane snappers have oval, silvery bodies with yellow lines from head to tail and a small black spot near the base of their dorsal fin, distinguishing them from similar species. Known for their adaptability, they thrive in both shallow coastal waters and deeper offshore reefs. Most active at night, they feed on crustaceans, small fish, and mollusks.
