Diet:

Long-armed hermit crabs forage on marine debris, fish, crustaceans like shrimp and crab, mollusks and algae.

Range & Habitat:

Along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and western Atlantic Ocean, long-armed hermit crabs live in harbors, channels, beaches, seagrass beds and salt marshes.

Details:

Long-armed hermit crabs can be white, green, gray or brown in color depending on their environment. This hermit crab has long arms, the right claw bigger in size than the left. Like many other marine invertebrates, long-armed hermit crabs will find discarded shells of mollusk species to live in as protection from predators.
