These parrotfish feed on algae growing on rocks and coral. They also eat dead coral.

Midnight parrotfish inhabit coastal coral reef communities in the western Atlantic Ocean, Gulf and Caribbean Sea.

Details:

Midnight parrotfish are brighter blue as juveniles and shift to darker hues as adults. Like other parrotfish species, midnight parrotfish use their beak-like teeth to scrape algae and coral off the reef. They help protect coral reefs from algae overgrowth. Despite their name, they are active in the daytime.
