Mottled sea stars feed on bivalves likes mollusks, snails, barnacles and tunicates.

Off of North America's Pacific coast, these sea stars can be found in rocky areas, sandy habitats, on docks and pilings.

Details:

Mottled sea stars have a small central disk and five long, slender arms. Their color can vary from gray, blue, green , brown, orange and red.
