Diet:

Throughout the day, the red hind will feed on crabs, shrimps, fishes and octopus.

Range & Habitat:

These fish can be found in the western Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico inhabiting shallow reefs and rocky bottoms.

Details:

Red hinds have white bodies with reddish-orange spots and black coloring on their tails and dorsal side. They can change color based on mood and surroundings. Highly territorial, they usually stay within a small home range. Like many groupers, red hinds start life as females and later transition to males as they mature.
