Details:

Females in this species are small and orange, while the males are slightly larger and magenta-pink in color. Males also have a long spine extending off the front of their dorsal fin. Like many other anthias species, sea goldies are hermaphroditic, meaning they can change sex during their lifetime. If a dominant male is removed from a group, the largest female will change sex to become the new male.
