Diet:

Striped mullet sift through the top layer of sand for debris, algae and small crustaceans. They've also been known to consume mosquito larvae.

Range & Habitat:

Striped mullet is a widespread species, occurring in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean. These fish inhabit shallow coastal environments, estuaries, densely vegetated areas and sandy/muddy bottom environments.

Details:

Striped mullet are long and slender fish with faint yellow stripes that run from their gills to the base of their tail. They have blue fins and deeply forked tails, yellow eyes and rounded faces.
