02/04/2018 Turtle was found washed ashore at Canaveral National Seashore in Brevard County and was transferred to Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center for triage. Animal was lethargic and had a variable heart rate so was given injectable Atropine. Blood glucose was low so animal was given subcutaneous fluids with Dextrose, injectable antibiotics, and a vitamin B injection.
02/12/2018 “Blitz” was transferred by FWC to Mote for continued rehabilitation and to make space at Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center for new patients.
02/13/2018 Blitz foraged almost all of his offered diet today.
02/27/2018 Animal continues to eat well and is active. Blood work reveals an elevation in one of the liver values and also an increase in white blood cell count. Animal was started on oral antibiotics to address a potential infection.
07/23/2018 Blitz was released at Canaveral National Seashore!
